Job summary

AIG is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Inland Marine in Specialty Lines to advance risk solutions for large accounts. You will underwrite, quote, and issue policies while building trusted broker relationships and guiding account strategy.

You will collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers and product leaders to drive profitable growth and provide mentorship to junior team members. The role emphasizes client service and cross-functional teamwork in a dynamic, office-based environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience; Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience preferred; Inland Marine experience preferred.
• Underwrite Inland Marine products and large accounts while adhering to guidelines and profitability targets.
• Ability to collaborate with brokers, clients and internal teammates to structure deals and deliver client value.

• Evaluate, prioritize and select submissions for underwriting.
• Deliver strategic account reviews and document files accordingly.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines and participate in profit center initiatives.

The goal is to unlock the full potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.**How you will create an impact** The Senior Underwriter will contribute to the growth of the business by underwriting Inland Marine products under general direction, issuing quotes and policies while ensuring standards and compliance guidelines are met. The position is responsible for underwriting large accounts and building relationships with clients and brokers. Other responsibilities include:* Evaluating, prioritizing and selecting submissions to be underwritten* Delivering strategic account reviews and preparing associated file documentation* Adhering to underwriting guidelines and discipline* Assisting management with the implementation of profit center strategic initiatives and providing technical underwriting and marketing support on other projects* Assisting regional manager and product leaders in developing existing and establishing new broker relationships* Collaborating with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business to target business development opportunities* Working with management, brokers, clients, and other partners on deal structure, contract terms and conditions on a portfolio of more complex risks* Representing AIG at client and broker functions* Contributing to the development of less experienced staff* Participating in special underwriting projects as needed* Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal & external)**What you’ll need to succeed*** Understanding of Inland Marine Insurance and associated risks including fundamentals of loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking etc. with a focus on Transportation and Logistic risks* Must be detail-oriented, possess analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and be able to make decisions based on level of authority* Effective in dynamic environment, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, working at pace and prioritizing multiple tasks* Strong communication skills (written and verbal), collaboration, building trust with wide range of colleagues and clients* Financial acumen, appetite for learning about the industry, negotiating skills and a focus on writing profitable business* Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience; Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience preferred; Inland Marine experience preferred Ready to take your career to the next level? In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
