Job summary

WSP seeks an experienced Engineer Diver to join the Underwater Inspection Team in the Northeast Region. The role supports field execution and engineering evaluation, acting as technical lead for inspections and multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires PE licensure (PA/NY/NJ), NBIS and ADCI certifications, and a strong background in bridge and waterfront inspections. Offices across PA, NY, NJ, SC, and FL are possible with flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

B.S. in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
7+ years of experience in bridge and/or waterfront inspection.
PE license in PA, NY, and NJ (or ability to obtain within six months).
NBIS Team Leader certification.
NBIS Underwater Bridge Inspector.
ADCI-certified Commercial Diver.
ADCI-approved Dive Physical completed within past 12 months.
Demonstrated experience leading field teams with limited supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute bridge and waterfront inspections per NBIS standards and best practices.
Evaluate structural conditions and develop repair/replacement recommendations.
Plan inspection approaches including dive operations and staffing needs.
Review and finalize inspection reports for technical accuracy and clarity.
Perform engineering calculations related to structural assessment and load ratings.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, inspectors, and dive personnel.
Coordinate with project managers to support schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
Promote safety and enforce Safe Diving Practices and site-specific safety plans.
Represent WSP in client meetings and field coordination.
Uphold WSP values through ethical decision-making.
