Job summary

STR is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a strong interest in undersea robotics to design, develop, and implement electrical systems for uncrewed undersea vehicles, sensors, and C2 systems. You will handle board-level design, sensor integration, bring-up, testing in lab and at sea, working with mechanical, software, and systems engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and testing analog and digital circuits.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout with common EDA tools.
• Board bring-up, lab testing, and hardware debugging.
• Embedded systems experience (MCUs, SBCs, FPGAs).
• Sensor integration and signal conditioning knowledge.
• Programming in C/C++ and Python.
• Clear communication of design decisions and trade-offs.
• Hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and document analog and digital circuitry for uncrewed undersea vehicles.
• Develop and lay out PCBs, including fabrication packages.
• Bring up boards and modules, perform bench testing and debugging.
• Interface sensors with vehicle processors and control systems.
• Define hardware-software interfaces with embedded software teams.
• Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers on packaging, thermal, and environmental requirements.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing in lab, pool, and sea environments.
• Maintain design records and test reports for the lifecycle of electrical systems.
• Stay current with electronics, embedded systems, and undersea robotics technologies.
