Compass Minerals is seeking a Principal Mine Planning Engineer to lead underground mine planning for a large operation. You will ensure plans from short-term to life-of-mine are safe, compliant, and executable, aligning with production and safety objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mining/geotechnical geology or related field.
• 10 years of progressive underground mining experience with increasing responsibility.
• Expertise in short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine planning for underground operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning tools and design support beyond software operation.
• Strong data literacy; ability to query databases and build dashboards (Power BI).

Responsabilités

• Serve as the senior technical authority for underground mine planning across short-term to life-of-mine horizons.
• Lead and mentor engineers, surveyors, technicians, interns, and contractors.
• Develop and govern plans integrating geology, geotechnical, ventilation, and equipment constraints.
• Oversee mine design activities including development layouts and sequencing.
• Provide oversight of underground utilities and systems to ensure safety and compliance.
• Translate strategic plans into actionable execution schedules for operations.
• Interface between mine planning and execution to ensure clarity and feasibility.
• Lead technical reviews and risk mitigation discussions for planning.
• Drive analytics, scenario modeling, and capital planning for design optimization.
