Required Education
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- 5+ years of professional front-end development experience
- Proven ability to set up and integrate enterprise design systems, including high-level wrapper components and reusable component libraries
- Strong expertise in WCAG 2.1/AAA standards, ARIA roles, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools
- Proficiency in HTML, SASS, and Angular
- Experience using Storybook for component development, documentation, and collaboration
- Strong understanding of UX best practices and accessible user interface design
- Experience with USWDS or other enterprise-level design systems
- Proven experience creating and implementing design systems from scratch
- Ability to develop accessible, reusable, and scalable components
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to partner with developers across teams to promote accessibility and design system best practices
- Experience participating in code reviews, accessibility audits, and UX discussions
- Ability to support accessibility compliance and user experience standards across enterprise applications

Senior UI/UX Developer/Architect Overview
- The Senior UI/UX Developer/Architect will provide accessibility and enterprise design system expertise across multiple enterprise systems
- The role is critical to developing accessible, reusable, scalable, and consistent components that meet federal WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements, including requirements up to AAA where applicable
- The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating and implementing design systems from scratch and integrating enterprise-level design systems across modern applications
- This position will focus on developing, documenting, and testing reusable components using Storybook, as well as implementing high-level wrapper components that promote accessibility, consistency, and uniformity
- The role will support high-visibility enterprise projects that must meet federal WCAG compliance requirements by the applicable deadline
- The ideal candidate is an expert in accessibility-focused component development and enterprise design systems who thrives in a collaborative environment
- This individual will partner with developers from multiple teams, including individuals who may be new to accessibility and design system best practices, to promote adherence to accessibility and UX standards
- The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration while ensuring front-end assets are accessible, reusable, compliant, and sustainable
- The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in meeting federal accessibility requirements while supporting the long-term sustainability of the enterprise design system across multiple agencies
Job Duties
- Build, document, and maintain a scalable design system and reusable component library using the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) framework or similar enterprise systems
- Develop high-level wrapper components using HTML, SASS, and Angular to ensure consistency and accessibility across web applications and enterprise systems
- Develop accessible, reusable, and scalable UI components
- Ensure all components and UI patterns meet WCAG 2.1/AAA accessibility standards through semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and accessibility testing workflows
- Use Storybook for component development, documentation, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Partner with developers from other teams to drive adherence to accessibility and UX standards
- Provide accessibility and UX support for major enterprise systems to ensure compliance with mandated requirements
- Participate in code reviews, accessibility audits, and UX discussions
- Ensure the quality, usability, accessibility, and consistency of front-end assets
- Collaborate across teams to establish and maintain enterprise design system best practices
- Mentor and support developers who are new to accessibility and design system best practices
- Support the immediate need for accessibility and design system expertise across multiple enterprise systems
- Contribute to the long-term sustainability and adoption of reusable design system components across multiple agencies
