Job summary

The UI/UX Design Engineer supports the Case Management Modernization (CMM) program for AOUSC by bridging design and engineering to deliver user-centered, accessible front-end applications on AWS.

Role emphasizes translating UX research into production-ready React interfaces, adhering to Section 508 and WCAG, and collaborating within Agile teams to ensure quality and security in government systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in UI/UX design development, with 5+ years in a Human-Centered Design role for enterprise or government apps.
• Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe delivery and iterative design integration.
• Expertise in usability testing: heuristic evaluations, card sorting, and A/B testing.
• Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and responsive design; production-ready React interfaces.
• Experience with federal accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG).
• Experience designing for federal modernization programs or court/case management systems.
• Excellent storytelling and communication to convey design rationale to technical/non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Translate research insights into actionable design specifications.
• Bridge design and engineering to translate prototypes into responsive, accessible front-end apps and reusable UI components using React.
• Ensure all designs comply with HCD principles and align with Agile ceremonies.
• Define and enforce UI/UX and front-end coding standards for consistency.
• Evaluate designs for Section 508, usability, and WCAG accessibility guidelines.
• Support rapid prototyping and validation within sprint cycles.
• Provide guidance on UI consistency and design-system reuse.
• Collaborate with QA and Compliance to verify usability in production releases.
