Job description

  • At Second Dinner, the Art Team helps define the visual identity of our games and is responsible for creating a cohesive, polished, and memorable player experience
  • We believe great game art comes from a combination of strong fundamentals, thoughtful collaboration, rapid iteration, and an obsessive attention to detail
  • As Game Artisans, we’re constantly creating, refining, experimenting, and raising the bar for what our games can look and feel like
  • We work closely with virtually every discipline across the studio, including Design, Engineering, Production, Product, Data, Marketing, and Sound, to create experiences that are both visually compelling and intuitive for players
  • As a Senior UI Artist, you will help define and elevate the visual language of MARVEL SNAP across the game’s interface and player experience
  • You’ll own UI art from early exploration through final implementation, translating gameplay and UX requirements into polished, intuitive, and expressive visual experiences
  • You’ll work closely with UX Designers, Game Designers, Engineers, Product, and the Art Director to solve complex problems through clear visual design
  • This is a hands-on senior role
  • We’re looking for someone who can independently take ambiguous problems, develop strong visual solutions, communicate their thinking, and drive those solutions through iteration and implementation
  • You’ll also help establish and maintain UI visual standards, mentor other artists through feedback and collaboration, and contribute to the continued evolution of MARVEL SNAP’s visual identity
  • This is a 6-month contract role to start (with possible extension), but if it’s a great mutual fit, it could evolve into a full-time position
  • Own the visual design and execution of UI experiences from concept through final, game-ready implementation
  • Create high-quality UI assets including screens, panels, buttons, icons, badges, backgrounds, decorative elements, effects, and other 2D graphic assets
  • Translate UX flows and gameplay requirements into clear, intuitive, and visually compelling UI solutions
  • Develop visual explorations, high-fidelity comps, prototypes, and style guides that communicate design intent
  • Collaborate closely with UX Designers, Game Designers, Engineers, Producers, and other artists to solve UI and player-experience challenges
  • Establish and maintain cohesive visual standards across UI features and systems
  • Create and refine iconography, typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and other visual-design systems
  • Design UI interactions and visual states, including transitions, feedback, emphasis, and other moments that make the interface feel responsive and alive
  • Implement UI art directly in the game engine and work with Engineers to ensure assets are performant, scalable, and production-ready
  • Rapidly prototype, iterate, and refine designs based on playtesting, feedback, and evolving product requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing UI and proactively raise the visual quality and usability of the game
  • Help establish efficient workflows, processes, and best practices for UI art production
  • Provide thoughtful feedback, and mentorship to other artists when appropriate
Benefits
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans with Second Dinner paying 100% of premiums for employees and 75% for dependents for many plans
  • 401(k) contribution with no waiting period
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave with no waiting period
  • Paid Vacation & Sick time
  • Home office improvement bonus
  • Company Summer Holiday shutdown (week of July 4)
  • Company Winter Holiday shutdown (Dec 25-Jan 1)
  • Up to 10 BetterHelp sessions covered each benefits plan year
  • Company Events - In-person Summer all-hands gathering, in-person holiday party, and virtual events throughout the year
  • Experience creating visual systems and maintaining consistency across a large number of UI elements and features
  • Experience taking UI concepts from rough exploration through polished, production-ready assets
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or equivalent
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly explain design decisions and incorporate feedback
  • 10+ years of professional UI, UX, or game art experience, with experience contributing to at least one commercially shipped game
  • Experience designing for different screen sizes, resolutions, and aspect ratios
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UI design, visual design, iconography, and game interface work. A portfolio is required for consideration
  • A high level of craft and attention to detail, with a genuine passion for making games look and feel great
  • The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound visual decisions in a fast-moving production environment
  • Experience working directly in a game engine and understanding the practical requirements of implementing UI in a game
  • Strong fundamentals in visual design, composition, typography, color, hierarchy, iconography, and information design
  • A strong understanding of UX principles and human-computer interaction, with the ability to balance usability and visual expression
