Shield AI in Dallas seeks a State Estimation Engineer to join the GNC team and advance real-time sensor fusion for autonomous UAVs.

You will design pipelines, integrate multi-sensor data, and work with autonomy, software, and hardware teams to deliver robust navigation solutions. The role requires experience with C++11 in Linux and a track record in GPS-denied navigation.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, plus a background in Kalman filters and real-time processing, are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in state estimation or navigation.
• Proficiency with C++11 or newer in real-time environments.
• Experience with Linux and scripting.
• Familiarity with Kalman filters and other estimation methods.
• Experience deploying navigation algorithms on UAV platforms.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time state estimation algorithms for autonomous UAVs.
• Integrate IMUs, GNSS, visual odometry, magnetometers, and radar.
• Design sensor processing pipelines focusing on accuracy, robustness, and fault tolerance.
• Collaborate with autonomy, software, and hardware teams for end-to-end integration.
• Conduct simulations, lab tests, and field trials to validate performance.
• Keep up with advances in state estimation and navigation.
