Job summary

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc (ESAero) in San Luis Obispo, CA seeks a Senior Flight Test Engineer to lead UAV flight tests, develop test plans, and ensure safety and reliability across platforms. You will collaborate with design, systems, and software teams and mentor junior engineers on-site.

The role requires 5–8 years in aerospace with UAV testing, strong analytics, and proficiency with LabVIEW, MATLAB, and SolidWorks. US citizenship required; on-site employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5-8 years in aerospace; 3-5 years UAV flight testing.
• Experience with power distribution systems theory, design, test, or analysis.
• Experience with electric motor and controller/inverter theory, design, test, or analysis.
• US Citizenship required; Part 107 pilot qualification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide testing and flight-testing support for company projects.
• Develop and maintain high-quality testing documentation including test plans.
• Represent testing interests with project teams.
• Define test requirements and procedures with design, systems, and software teams.
• Lead or participate in flight tests and monitor flight data in real time.
