Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on TypeScript, Node.js, and GraphQL, with an interest in Rust. You will architect high-throughput federated GraphQL APIs and BFF layers, handling billions of daily requests with sub-second latencies.

You will work to migrate performance-critical paths to Rust where memory safety and ultra-low latency matter, collaborating with frontend teams and enterprise architects in Sunnyvale, CA.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, OR 6+ years of equivalent professional engineering experience.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ESNext).
• Experience building GraphQL schemas, resolvers, and federated architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain production-grade GraphQL APIs, Apollo Federation subgraphs, and RESTful microservices using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Identify bottlenecks in data hydration and serialization; evaluate Rust or Wasm for ultra-low-latency workloads.
• Interface with enterprise backend platforms, distributed data stores, and event-driven architectures (Kafka).
• Define schema evolutions, caching policies (Redis, CDN), and implement telemetry/distributed tracing.
• Design for high availability, zero-downtime deployments, and cross-cloud failovers.
• Champion clean code, CI/CD workflows, unit/integration tests, and peer design/code reviews.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, security, and enterprise architects to translate business needs into technical solutions.
