Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond is hiring a Sr. Power Electronics Engineer for the Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier (Starlink). You will lead the hardware lifecycle from concept to high-volume production, delivering high-voltage DC-DC power supplies for harsh environments and integrating with RF, mechanical, and systems teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or other STEM discipline
• 5+ years of professional experience in power converter development
• Experience with magnetics and design of custom transformers and inductors, including planar magnetics
• Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of power electronics

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through production and ground station operation
• Deliver expertise in designing, analyzing, and testing DC-DC power converters for harsh environments
• Design power supplies that support 10s of kilovolts and hundreds of watts
• Lead power electronics hardware trades to optimize performance and reliability
• Define and execute verification testing and analysis for electrical power systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define hardware
• Rapidly iterate designs, analysis, and test to inform system trades
• Interact with digital embedded devices, analog sensing, telemetry, and controls
