We are seeking a Junior Turtle Ecologist Support Specialist for a potential long-term contract under FLOAT, a joint venture with Fish serving NOAA ProTech Fisheries. This position may be seasonal with periods of downtime.
The role involves analysis, statistical consultation, synthesis, and report writing on sea turtle ecology and population dynamics. Data sources include captures, surveys, acoustic recordings, tagging, health assessments, environmental sampling, photogrammetry, ROVs, remote sensing, and others. Tasks may include:
Field and lab support includes preparing for and participating in fieldwork, handling live or carcass turtles, operating small boats, and contributing to reports. Database management involves maintaining biological samples, developing image/video libraries, and updating web content.
