Job summary

Relativity Space is building rockets with the Aeon-R engine family and the propulsion team leads the full product lifecycle from concept to launch. As a Turbomachinery Engineer, you will develop turbopump assemblies and collaborate with propulsion development and manufacturing to implement improvements.

You should thrive in ambiguity, drive projects to completion, and bring a strong background in turbomachinery design, analysis, and diagnostics.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Ability to perform basic structural, thermal, and/or fluid analysis.
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of turbomachinery fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex turbomachinery operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop assemblies for fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of Aeon-R engine family.
  • Collaborate with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to implement improvements.
  • Drive projects to completion in ambiguous environments.
  • Work at interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery.
