Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach is seeking a Turbomachinery Engineer to develop turbopump assemblies for the Aeon-R engine family. You will collaborate with propulsion and manufacturing teams to advance design from concept through production, solving complex issues in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Ideal candidates have a degree in engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience, with hands-on ability in structural, thermal, and fluid analyses, rotor balancing, and turbopump procedures.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Ability to perform basic structural, thermal, and/or fluid analysis.
• Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex turbomachinery operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop the assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R engine family.
• Collaborate closely with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements.
• Drive projects to completion in ambiguous environments.
• Work at the interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery.
• Contribute in a fast-paced aerospace setting with multidisciplinary teams.
