Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an attorney with broad experience in trusts, estates, guardianship, and transfer taxes to join the Trust Counsel Practice Group in a hybrid working model. The role involves providing legal counsel to Wealth Management, reviewing fiduciary documents, and overseeing complex fiduciary matters.

The candidate must be admitted to practice in Florida, with at least 10 years of experience in trust and estate law.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills required.
Very high level of trust and estate knowledge across trusts, estates, guardianships, and transfer taxes.
Ability to handle a wide range of trust and fiduciary matters independently; strong legal analysis and judgment.
Ability to identify issues and risks to the bank and craft solutions.
Must reside or be willing to practice in Florida with bar in good standing.

Responsibilities

Review Will and trust agreements when the bank serves fiduciary capacity to protect the bank and satisfy client expectations.
Provide legal counsel on trust and fiduciary matters to Wealth Management management and partners.
Advise on trust, estate settlement, real estate, homestead issues, and complex fiduciary issues.
Monitor and oversee trust and estate litigation when Northern Trust acts fiduciary.
Educate internal partners and participate in Bar meetings and conferences.
