Job Description

The Senior Trial Attorney represents insured and the Company in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and Allstate Financial cases. The position prepares for and conducts hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documents
  • Prepares witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials including expert witnesses
  • Keep claim business partners updated on status (initial client contact, initial litigation plan, recurring contacts, strategy conferences, pre-trial, etc.)
  • Contacts clients to discuss their case and answer any questions
  • Review new file assignments, all documentary evidence, and approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and/or develop strategy
  • Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation as appropriate
  • Draft post-trial motions
  • Try and/or arbitrate cases by preparing motions, motions in limine and summary documents in limine
  • Conducts settlement/dispositive proceedings (e.g., mediations, arbitrations, etc.)
  • Prepares and conducts court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.)

Education

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree (Required)
  • Juris Doctor (Required)

Experience

  • 5 or more years of experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Skilled in conducting legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents.
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
  • Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
  • Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
  • Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
  • Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout greater Detroit

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $85,600.00 - 152,650.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
