Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Senior Treasury Analyst to support the investment portfolio within Corporate Treasury. The role focuses on day-to-day activities such as collateral monitoring, transaction entry, prepurchase analysis, and security settlements.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in accounting/finance, a related degree, and knowledge of banking operations and markets. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Bachelor's degree required; Masters/MBA preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of banking operations and treasury management.
• Intermediate knowledge of regulatory obligations and market practices.
• Intermediate knowledge of financial markets and instruments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

• Submit daily collateral pool reports to public funds.
• Assist with prepurchase analysis of securities.
• Help develop and implement controls in investment processes.
• Assist with credit monitoring of the investment portfolio.
• Coordinate settlement of securities with safekeeper and brokers.
• Monitor investment portfolio KRIs and metrics.
• Purchase treasury bills for customers and track safekeeping.
• Liaise with accounting to ensure proper security accounting.
• Pledge securities and track liquidity for quarterly LST.
• Prepare monthly safekeeping reconciliations.
• Prepare ALCO and board presentations and ad hoc reports.
• Prepare quarterly fair market value analyses based on market changes.

What you'll do:

The investment portfolio team is a core part of Corporate Treasury. The Senior Treasury Analyst is responsible for handling day-to-day investment activities such as daily collateral monitoring, investment transaction entry, prepurchase analysis, and security settlements.

• Submit daily collateral pool reports to the various entities for public funds
• Assist with prepurchase analysis of securities
• Assist with developing and implementing controls in the investment management and reporting process
• Assist with credit monitoring of the investment portfolio
• Coordinate the settlement of investment securities between the safekeeper and various broker dealers
• Assist with the monitoring of investment portfolio KRI's and metrics
• Purchase treasury bills on behalf of customers and monitor the safekeeping associated with these off balance sheet holdings
• Liaison with the accounting department to ensure proper accounting treatment is being applied to each individual security
• Pledge securities and track investment portfolio liquidity in relation to the quarterly liquidity stress test (LST)
• Prepare monthly safekeeping reconciliations
• Prepare ALCO presentations, preparation of board presentations, and other ad hoc reports for management
• Prepare quarterly fair market value analysis based on changes in market rates, economic conditions, etc.

What you'll need:

• 3+ years of related experience in Accounting, Finance (GL Mgmt., Public Reporting, Analysis), Economics or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required; Masters or MBA in related field preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
• Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
• Intermediate knowledge of financial markets and instruments.
• Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
• Chartered Financial Analysts preferred.
• Certified Treasury Professional preferred.
• Occasional travel required.
