Job summary

Larimer County seeks a Senior Treasurer's Technician to support walk-in taxpayers and perform head cashier duties in Fort Collins. The role emphasizes accuracy, reliability, and superb customer service in a small team.

You will handle deposits, process tax payments, and perform routine Treasurer's transactions from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at 200 W Oak Street, Suite 2100. Remote work is not available.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in a directly related field or in similar Treasurer's duties are required.
  • High School diploma or GED is required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily deposits and handle checks; post and verify deposits.
  • Provide tax payment processing and respond to taxpayer questions with accuracy.
  • Calculate taxes, fees, interest, and related charges for taxpayers.
  • Research public records for inquiries about names, addresses, and ownership.
  • Prepare and process certificates of tax due and related permits.
  • Process other Treasurer's transactions including redemptions and balancing.
  • Handle tax-roll corrections, abatements, and refunds with care.

Hiring a Senior Treasurer's Technician!

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to join our small but mighty team! This front-counter position plays a key role in assisting walk-in taxpayers and performing head cashier duties, all with professionalism and five-star customer service.

The expected schedule for this position is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, in our office at 200 W Oak Street, Suite 2100, Fort Collins, CO.

No remote or hybrid work is available for this position.
What you'll be doing:
  • Preparing daily deposit for the Office; encodes checks; processes and posts checks; verifies deposits from other County departments; maintains check files and associated records.
  • Performing customer service functions such as receiving and processing tax payments, answering and researching taxpayer questions, providing reports, balancing daily receipts, and researching returned mail problems.
  • Calculating taxes, including fees, interest, and other related charges to the taxpayer.
  • Performing research of names, addresses, and ownership within public records to respond to public inquiries.
  • Preparing and processing certificates of tax due, including mobile/manufactured home and associated moving permits.
  • Processing other types of Treasurer's transactions, including redemptions and account balancing.
  • Processing tax-roll corrections, abatements, and refunds from the Assessor's Office.

Please note that the starting pay for this position is $24.08 - $25.28/hour
