Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. in Maumee, OH is seeking a Senior Transportation Roadway Engineer to lead highway design efforts and mentor junior staff.

Lead the preparation of roadway design plans for ODOT, LPA and municipal projects, perform design calculations, and develop complete design packages for submittals.

You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery, with growth toward project management and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• PE license required
• 10–15 years of roadway or transportation design experience
• Proficiency in MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D highly desirable
• Strong understanding of ODOT and LPA design standards
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of transportation design plans and 3D models for ODOT and local agency roadway projects.
• Perform and review design calculations, including drainage design, quantities, maintenance of traffic, and pavement design.
• Prepare complete design packages, including special provisions, construction estimates, and bid documents for milestone submittals.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, supporting their professional growth.
• Collaborate across disciplines and support ODOT, LPA, and MDOT projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout design and delivery.
