Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking an inspection professional to perform and oversee road and bridge inspections on primary and secondary routes, ensuring compliance with SCDOT rules and standards.

You will prepare reports, conduct daily diaries, train staff, monitor traffic control plans, and assist with project closeout while occasionally traveling and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or an approved equivalent.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or oversees inspection work on complex road and bridge projects on primary and secondary routes, ensuring compliance with SCDOT rules and policies.
• Completes and submits reports, notes and daily diaries within required time limits.
• Performs interoffice audits of projects to ensure quality standards.
• Assists with project closeout duties and monitoring of traffic control plans.
• Trains fellow employees in inspection areas and office procedures.
• May require travel and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
