Job summary

The Walsh Group, Ltd. seeks a Senior Estimator for its Florida Transportation Division in Tampa, FL. The position focuses on developing accurate proposals and estimates to ensure competitive, responsive bids for transportation projects.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, preparing takeoffs and unit-price estimates, analyzing bid documents, soliciting subcontractor input, and guiding post-bid buyouts. Travel between regions may be required.

Qualifications

• 10 years of construction estimating experience.
• Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Experience with bid packaging, subcontractor bidding and buyouts.

Responsibilities

• Review plans/specs to develop scope, labor and equipment costs.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for self-perform or unit-price estimates.
• Analyze bid documents for constructability and material requirements.
• Solicit subcontractor input and obtain detailed knowledge of work portions.
• Prepare bid packages and compare subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Assess subcontractor bonding, workload and past performance.
• Prepare estimates for multiple delivery methods and review with PM team.
• Assist with post-bid buyouts and conduct subcontractor/supplier meet-and-greets.
• Ensure diversity requirements in contracts are understood and met.
