Job summary

The City of Glendale AZ is seeking a licensed civil engineer to lead the Transportation Department's engineering programs. The role focuses on long-range planning, budgeting, and program delivery for roadway projects, and requires coordinating with other agencies and managing outside consultants.

Ideal candidates will have a professional engineer license, at least five years of experience in transportation engineering, and proven supervisory abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources or Transportation engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in the area of assignment.
• At least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and manage activities of assigned staff within the Transportation Department.
• Review, evaluate, and approve civil engineering studies, designs, or plans.
• Coordinate city projects with other departments, municipalities, and agencies.
• Prepare written and oral reports for City management, City Council, and the public.
• Coordinate communication of engineering issues within the department.
• Maintain and update professional knowledge through seminars and publications.
