Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) seeks a senior transportation leader to expand the firm’s eastern Pennsylvania practice, guiding growth and building client relationships with PennDOT, City of Philadelphia, and regional partners.

The ideal candidate will mentor staff, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and drive business development across PA while upholding integrity and project delivery excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in transportation leading multi‑discipline teams.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in PA or able to obtain licensure within 6 months via comity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the firm’s strategic transportation initiatives in eastern Pennsylvania.
• Mentor staff and grow the PA transportation practice.
• Collaborate on project pursuits and delivery across PA with PennDOT, municipalities and regional planning orgs.

Building on WRA’s outstanding reputation in the western and central Pennsylvania transportation industry, we are currently seeking a senior professional to lead the firm’s strategic transportation initiatives within the eastern Pennsylvania market.

Responsibilities:

This position will play a vital role in expanding our presence in eastern Pennsylvania, hiring and mentoring staff, and helping guide the overall direction of our growth and expansion in eastern Pennsylvania as well as supporting growth throughout the company. The candidate will be part of our Pennsylvania leadership team which collaborates on project pursuits and delivery throughout the state. The successful candidate must be energetic and be able to mentor and lead teams. In addition, they must have a demonstrated ability to pursue and manage transportation projects with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation particularly PennDOT District’s 5-0 and 6-0 as well as the City of Philadelphia and other municipalities, counties, and regional planning organizations.

Leadership responsibilities include operating with integrity and sound business principles, providing practice vision, business planning and strategy, establishing goals, building and maintaining positive client relationships, open communication with partners and team, along with growing and directing the eastern Pennsylvania transportation practice. Requirements:

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• A minimum of 20 years of experience in the transportation industry leading multi-disciplined experts
• Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or have the ability to become licensed within 6 months through comity from another state
• Track record of developing and growing markets and cultivating outstanding internal and external relationships
• Ability to manage and mentor staff of all levels, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
• Excellent communication and business development skills including writing proposals, scopes of work, scheduling, and budgets for projected work
• Demonstrated experience leading transportation contracts in PA
• Alternative Project Delivery experience a plus
• Excellent reputation as a transportation professional
• Strong knowledge of PennDOT Policies and Procedures
• Positive attitude and willingness to work with others

The expected compensation range for this position is $160,000.00 - $240,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
