Job summary

JCW Group is seeking a Senior Transmission Planner (Engineer 4) in Tampa, FL to lead complex planning projects for major utilities across North America. The role involves performing steady-state and dynamic analyses and coordinating with stakeholders on system upgrades and interconnections.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license with 8–12 years of transmission planning experience and strong communication, leadership, and team mentorship abilities. This is a contract position based in Tampa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and active PE license.
• 8–12 years of transmission planning experience in utility or consulting.
• Proficient in power system analysis tools (PSS/E, TARA, PSLF, PowerWorld).
• Strong communication and leadership skills for presenting study results to diverse audiences.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and contribute to complex transmission planning projects across a variety of utility clients and regions
• Perform steady-state, transient, and dynamic analysis to ensure system adequacy and compliance with planning standards
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on system upgrades, new interconnections, and NERC-related initiatives
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical review of planning reports, power flow models, and study results

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and active Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 8–12 years of transmission planning experience within the utility or consulting space
• Proficient in power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, TARA, PSLF, PowerWorld) and familiar with FERC/NERC standards
