Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a seasoned transmission line engineer to design 69kV–500kV lines, lead a small project team, and mentor staff. You will develop criteria, routing, and specifications while coordinating with vendors and clients to deliver cost-effective solutions.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in office and two remote days, plus a generous relocation package depending on location.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years on a project team in transmission assignments including design, cost estimates, schedules and procurement specifications.
• Knowledge of right of way, conductor sag/tension, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Proficiency with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication.
• Attention to detail mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Perform cost analyses and develop design criteria, routing and siting.
• Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction analyses.
• Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Lead a small project team and mentor staff.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
• Travel occasionally for site visits and meetings.
