Job summary

You’ll work with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and related tools to deliver safe, compliant high-voltage designs and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and analyzing transmission lines (25kV+).
  • PE license or ability to obtain required.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical and structural engineering.
  • Proficient with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD and related tools.
  • Know IES/NESC/IEEE/ASCE standards and ongoing industry changes.
  • Ability to build relationships with team, clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability and independent judgment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities; clear verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage assigned work independently with guidance as needed.

We are looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to support our Transmission Line Team within our Power Group. In this role, you will design overhead transmission projects from concept through construction, playing a key role in shaping the infrastructure that powers communities. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and leveraging tools like PLS-CADD and AutoCAD, your expertise in high-voltage systems will help you solve complex challenges and deliver reliable, innovative solutions.

Compensation: $80,000 - $150,000 / year

Essential Duties
  • Design transmission line routes, configurations, and structures to meet client specifications and regulatory standards for systems 25kV and above.
  • Perform structural analysis, sag-tension calculations, and clearance checks using industry-standard tools to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant designs.
  • Develop detailed design packages for bidding, permitting, and construction.
  • Partner with ROW, environmental, and project management teams to successfully deliver transmission projects.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate terrain, identify constraints, and recommend practical design solutions.
  • Assist with estimates, schedules, and procurement strategies.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of transmission lines (25kV and above).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
  • Solid understanding of electrical and structural engineering principles related to high-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in design software including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, FAD Tools, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes such as NESC, IEEE, and ASCE.
  • Maintains working knowledge of changes to industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and sound independent judgment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage assigned work independently with appropriate guidance.
