The candidate will lead engineering analyses using PLS-CADD/PLS-Pole, ensuring QA/QC and compliance with CA GO 95 and related codes. Hybrid work with in-office 2 days weekly.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Active California PE license required.
• 7+ years of transmission & distribution line engineering design experience.
• Hands-on with PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole.
• Knowledge of GO 95, NESC and ASCE codes.
• AutoCAD experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission and distribution line engineering design and structural analysis.

Hydrogen Group is seeking an experienced Senior Transmission & Distribution Engineer for a 12-month contract opportunity in Pomona, CA.

This is a hands-on technical engineering position focused on transmission and distribution line design, structural analysis, modeling and engineering calculations. The successful candidate will serve as a technical expert within the engineering team, with significant ownership of design calculations, models and technical deliverables.

The role

As a Senior Transmission & Distribution Engineer, you will perform detailed structural and line analysis using PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole while providing technical leadership across complex T&D engineering work.

The position is primarily focused on engineering execution rather than project management, making it well suited to an experienced engineer who wants to remain closely involved in technical design and analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform transmission and distribution line engineering design and structural analysis
• Develop and maintain engineering models using PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole
• Lead the engineering design and review of pole and foundation systems for new and existing infrastructure
• Take ownership of engineering calculations, models and associated technical deliverables
• Ensure designs meet applicable engineering codes, safety requirements and QA/QC standards
• Apply California GO 95, NESC and ASCE codes and guidelines to engineering designs
• Assess existing infrastructure and develop appropriate engineering solutions
• Provide technical engineering support during construction and resolve field-driven design issues
• Conduct site visits and engineering inspections when required
• Support engineering activities associated with emergency restoration following events such as wildfires and storms
• Maintain and improve engineering standards, specifications and design criteria
• Work collaboratively with engineering and other technical stakeholders
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on modeling, calculations and design methodologies
• Help develop technical capabilities and engineering best practices across the wider team

Required experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Active California Civil Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 7+ years of technical experience in transmission and/or distribution line engineering design
• Strong hands-on experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole
• Experience designing electric utility transmission and distribution systems
• Strong knowledge and practical application of California GO 95, NESC and ASCE codes and guidelines
• AutoCAD experience
• Strong structural analysis and engineering calculation capabilities
• Experience with pole and foundation design
• Ability to independently own complex technical engineering deliverables
• Strong understanding of engineering QA/QC and safety requirements
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work effectively with multidisciplinary stakeholders

Location: Pomona, CA - Hybrid, 2 days per week in office

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Contract: 12 months

Pay rate: $111.73 per hour
