Job summary

San Diego Gas & Electric is hiring an Electric Transmission Asset Planning & Operations Engineer at Senior I/Senior II level. The role focuses on planning and designing high-voltage transmission systems, conducting analyses, and reviewing overwire designs to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4 year degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
• ABET accredited degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports development of innovative transmission solutions ensuring codes and standards compliance.
• Participates in emergency response and system restoration efforts.
• Conducts detailed design reviews and prepares engineering documents for accuracy.
• Performs field inspections of overhead and underground facilities.
• Executes engineering calculations (cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading, power factor).
• Prepares engineering analyses for planning and optimization.
• Prepares and reviews system performance reports with insights.
• Drives to meetings and field locations; maintains safety and compliance.
