Job summary

PACO Group, Inc. seeks an experienced Communications Engineer to support a major capital improvement program for NYCT in Brooklyn, NY.

The role serves as Owner's Representative, providing technical oversight of communications systems during construction and coordinating with NYCT Engineering, Operations, contractors, designers, and project management. The successful candidate will ensure communications work is planned, reviewed, coordinated, documented, and implemented per NYCT standards while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of experience in supporting communications, transportation, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, submittals, and construction documentation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an active construction environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, and communications-related construction documents for compliance with contract requirements and NYCT standards.
  • Coordinate communications activities with electrical, signals, civil, structural, and other project disciplines to support construction sequencing and project delivery.
  • Support planning, review, and implementation of NYCT Communications Bulletins, including system cutovers, temporary service modifications, and coordination of work windows and outages.
  • Conduct field inspections, site surveys, and existing conditions assessments to verify installation quality and identify field issues.
  • Coordinate contractor access, work activities, and NYCT Access & Protection requirements to minimize impacts to transit operations.
  • Monitor contractor progress, review daily reports and look-ahead schedules, and maintain project logs and engineering documentation.
  • Participate in Job Progress Meetings, coordination meetings, field inspections, and technical discussions with NYCT, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, and applicable NYCT procedures.
  • Prepare project reports, document field observations, track action items, and communicate technical issues and recommendations to project management.
