Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer – Electronics to lead design for CCTV, security, digital/analog communications, and radio systems across major transportation assets. You will direct teams, prepare contract documents, and guide RFQ/RFP processes for DB and DBB contracts.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license in NY/NJ, 12+ years in engineering design of electronic/communication systems, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering with exposure to electronics and communications.
• 12+ years of professional engineering design and support with electronic/communication systems.
• New York and/or New Jersey Professional Engineer license.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards and multi-system design.
• Proven ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational ability.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise contract document prep for DBB contracts including drawings and specs.
• Lead teams to produce bid-ready contract documents within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Oversee RFQ/RFP documents for design-build contracts and cost estimates.
• Direct design and coordination of electronic/communication systems and networks.
• Ensure safety, reliability, maintainability, and adherence to standards.
• Coordinate with facilities, utilities, and external partners to minimize disruption.
• Manage staff, training, and quality control for design services.
• Provide design guidance and technical recommendations for capital programs.
