Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Newport News is seeking a training program designer to develop and deliver programs for all personnel levels. You will create tests, visual aids, and training materials while evaluating effectiveness and staying current with evolving training theory and methodologies.

The role may involve overseeing contractors, and developing in-house programs to prepare employees for higher responsibilities, including potential e-learning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Equivalent combinations may meet minimum qualifications: Associate's Degree with 2 years experience, military paygrade E-5 or higher, or 4–8 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and delivers programs to train all levels of personnel.
  • Develops tests and visual aids, conducts training classes, and evaluates effectiveness.
  • Keeps abreast of learning theory and new training materials and methods.
  • Develops in-house programs to identify developmental needs and preparing personnel for advancement.
  • Oversees contractors or vendors for training programs; may develop/evaluate e-learning programs.
