Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Traffic Project Engineer to support the Southwest Region in Austin, Round Rock, or San Antonio, TX.

You will provide technical expertise on transportation design projects and serve as Task Manager within a multidisciplinary team. The role involves leading traffic signal design, TMPs, streetlight design, ITS plans, and PS&E packages while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with clients.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• 5-10 years of traffic engineering experience.
• EIT required or ability to obtain licensure.
• Familiarity with TxDOT and/or general DOT standards; MUTCD and AASHTO knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare traffic signal design plans for intersections and signal modifications.
• Prepare TMPs, signing and marking plans for multimodal projects.
• Design streetlights and perform photometric analysis with OpenRoads-accepted tools.
• Prepare technical reports (IJR/IMR) and traffic/safety studies.
• Develop ITS design plans and PS&E packages for highway projects.
• Assist in conceptual layouts and engineering reports; supervise juniors.
• Attend client meetings to discuss project progress.
