DRMP is expanding its transportation engineering practice and seeks a Senior Traffic Engineering Project Manager, PE to lead complex traffic studies, TIAs, and modeling projects from inception through completion.

The role combines technical leadership, project management, QC, business development, and team development with public- and private-sector clients. Strong leadership to mentor transportation professionals is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and PE licensure.
• 7–10+ years of experience in traffic engineering/public-private sector projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex traffic studies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee traffic studies and TIAs from inception to completion with QA.
• Lead and mentor project managers, engineers, and interns.
• Drive business development and strengthen DRMP brand across states.
• Manage multiple private sector traffic studies with QC on projects.
• Support marketing with project pursuits, presentations, and interviews.
• Manage publicly and privately funded projects with cost and schedule tracking.
• Prepare project fee proposals and follow up as needed.
• Coordinate tracking of costs, schedules, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate across service areas to broaden professional development.
• Mentor staff and develop next-generation transportation professionals.

Description

DRMP is expanding its transportation engineering services across the Mid-Atlantic, with a growing presence throughout the Carolinas and Virginia. We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineering Project Manager, PE to help lead and grow our traffic engineering practice, overseeing complex traffic studies, traffic impact analyses, and modeling projects from inception through completion.

This position offers the opportunity to combine technical leadership, project management, quality control, business development, and team development while working with both public- and private-sector clients. The ideal candidate will bring strong traffic engineering expertise, a proven ability to manage multiple projects, and the leadership skills to mentor and develop the next generation of transportation professionals.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

• Oversee preparation of traffic engineering studies and traffic impact analysis through the life cycle of assigned project(s), including quality control.
• Strengthen the DRMP brand through business development efforts across states.
• Manage multiple private sector traffic studies and provide technical quality control on projects.
• Supports marketing with project pursuits, technical presentations, and interviews.
• Manages multiple publicly and privately funded projects and provides technical quality control of projects.
• Prepares project fee proposals and follows up as appropriate.
• Responsible for tracking of costs, schedules, and performance measurements for assigned projects.
• Supervises work of Project Managers, Engineers, and Interns.
• Responsible for personal professional development through collaboration with other service areas to develop broader awareness of the relationships between the various project design disciplines.
• Mentors/Coaches Project Managers, Engineers, and Interns to develop staff.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• 7-10+ years of overall and progressively responsible experience with public and private sector projects, ideally in the A/E/C industry
• Proven track record of completing traffic studies in the state
• Existing contacts and strong relationships with private sector development clients
• Willing to travel to interface with clients
• Professional Engineering licensure in the state where this person’s work is primarily performed
• Knowledge of appropriate technical analysis standards and practices.
• Strong knowledge of Synchro, SIDRA, and other applicable software.
