Job summary

Toole Design Group LLC in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Senior or Principal Traffic Engineer to lead traffic engineering design and analysis, shaping safer, multimodal networks. You’ll work with a collaborative team and mentor junior staff while driving corridor studies and safety initiatives.

Proficiency in MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, and VISSIM, plus a PE license in OH, are required. The role offers a hybrid schedule, generous PTO, and a path to leadership within a purpose-driven firm.

Qualifications

• PE license in OH required; other Midwest states a plus.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, SIDRA and/or VISSIM.
• Interest in multimodal, safety, and active transportation design.
• Experience developing conceptual designs for intersections and corridors.
• Understanding MUTCD standards at state and federal level.
• Understanding geometric design principles of roadways and industry roadway design standards.
• Experience developing construction documents and cost estimates.
• 10+ years of experience for Senior Engineer; 15+ years for Principal Engineer.
• 5+ years managing projects and/or design work; mentoring staff (bonus).
• Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads (bonus).
• Bonus: PTOE, Complete Streets, bikeway and crossing design; business development exposure.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering design and analysis to improve safety and multimodal networks.
• Design traffic signals, pavement markings, signage, and traffic calming plans.
• Conduct traffic and safety studies; mentor junior staff.
• Support business development and build the firm’s reputation.
