Job summary

Toole Design in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior or Principal Traffic Engineer to lead traffic engineering design and analysis, creating safer, multimodal networks. You’ll design signals, pavement markings, signage, and traffic calming plans, conduct studies, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development across the Midwest.

This role offers a hybrid schedule (Tu/W/Th in office), a collaborative culture, generous PTO and holidays, and a commitment to ethics, equity, and impactful

Qualifications

• OH Professional Engineering license required
• 10+ years experience in Senior level roles; 15+ years for Principal
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, SIDRA, and/or VISSIM
• Strong interest in multimodal, safety, and active transportation design
• Experience developing conceptual designs for intersections and corridors
• Understanding MUTCD standards at state and federal levels
• Experience producing construction documents and cost estimates

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering design and analysis for multimodal networks
• Design traffic signals, pavement markings, signage, and traffic calming plans
• Conduct traffic and safety studies and mentor junior staff
• Perform corridor studies and Safe Routes to School initiatives
• Contribute to business development and client relationships
