Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in traffic engineering to support planning, analysis, design, operation, and maintenance of local transportation systems in the Atlanta area.

This on-site role requires coordinating with agency staff, residents, consultants, developers, and partner organizations, performing field reviews, and delivering defensible recommendations with a focus on safety and timely communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Relevant traffic engineering experience supporting local government transportation programs.
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and be able to conduct field reviews throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic studies and analyses, including traffic impact studies, speed limit studies, and signal warrant reviews.
• Prepare clear technical reports summarizing findings, field conditions, and defensible recommendations.
• Review and recommend traffic signing and pavement marking improvements for compliance with MUTCD and local, state, and federal standards.
• Support development and review of temporary traffic control plans for construction projects.
• Review roadway construction plans and intersection improvements for traffic-related issues and standard compliance.
• Coordinate with consultants and developers to resolve plan review comments and move projects from concept through construction.
• Conduct field reviews of intersections, corridors, school zones, and local roadways; investigate citizen concerns related to speeding and congestion.
• Assist with traffic signal plan design and operations and document existing conditions.
• Respond to public inquiries and coordinate with client staff and agencies.
• Prepare cost estimates, project documentation, field notes, and supporting materials for local traffic decisions.
