Job summary

Minnesota Department of Transportation in Roseville is seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Specialist to advise on statewide traffic electrical systems design, construction, and operations, and to oversee standards, policies, and specifications for traffic signals and roadway lighting.

This position may be filled at Engineering Specialist Senior or Engineering Specialist depending on qualifications; hybrid telework is possible, with a day shift Monday–Friday and salary ranges of $73,377–$111,040

Qualifications

• Three years of experience with contract documents, construction practices and materials related to signal and lighting systems.
• Knowledge and application of traffic signals and roadway lighting and operations.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and general electrical and electronic principles.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze new products, materials, and construction methods for statewide traffic electrical systems.
• Write, review, and maintain signal and lighting contract documents and specifications.
• Provide technical expertise in traffic electrical systems to MnDOT districts and other agencies.
• Assist in the MnDOT Signal and Lighting Certification and Recertification training.
• Represent the Central Office Traffic Engineering Signal and Lighting Unit in external discussions and meetings.
