Job summary

The County of Volusia in DeLand, Florida is seeking a Senior Trades Worker - Operations for the Facility Management Division. This role performs skilled journeyman work in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, air conditioning, painting, and related trades, often with little supervision.

Candidate must be able to respond to emergencies outside normal hours and may supervise small crews while maintaining facility infrastructure and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with four years of progressively responsible trade maintenance experience.
• Journeyman level experience in one or more skilled trades (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, HVAC, painting, etc.).
• Valid driver's license; Florida driver’s license preferred within 30 days of hire; CDL may be required depending on assignment.
• HVAC or electrical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled journeyman work across multiple trades including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, HVAC, and painting.
• Repair, replacement, renovation and new work; supervise small crews as needed.
• Operate related equipment, input data into asset management system, and respond to emergencies as required.
• Read maps/blueprints, estimate materials and costs, and work with maps and schematics.
• Maintain safety and adhere to county policies; periodic travel to other county locations may occur.
