Job summary

Arvato is seeking a Senior Trade & FTZ Compliance Manager to lead global trade compliance for import/export operations, ensuring adherence to U.S. and international regulations. You will guide business teams, brokers, and stakeholders while implementing sustainable programs, audits, and training.

The role requires extensive experience in trade compliance, HTS, ECCN, and country of origin determinations, with a focus on continuous improvement and risk mitigation across global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance leadership, managing teams, customs, export controls, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements and U.S. export control regulations.
• Experience with HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, country of origin, customs valuation, export licensing, sanctions, and restricted‑party screening.
• Experience managing customs brokers and third‑party service providers.
• Experience conducting trade compliance audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Experience with Oracle, SAP, SAP GTS, or similar ERP and trade compliance systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day global trade compliance activities supporting U.S. and international import and export operations.
• Provide guidance on U.S. Customs, BIS, OFAC, and other applicable government and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, work instructions, and internal controls.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on business operations and clients.
• Identify compliance risks, develop corrective and preventive actions, and monitor remediation through completion.
• Oversee import compliance activities, including HTS classification, country of origin, customs valuation, duty rates, and entry requirements.
• Review customs entries and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee export compliance activities, including ECCN/USML classification, license determinations, export documentation, and screening requirements.
• Establish and maintain processes for HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, and country-of-origin determinations.
• Develop and conduct trade compliance audits, assessments, and transactional reviews to identify errors, gaps, and compliance risks.

Job Description

The Senior Trade & FTZ Compliance Manager is responsible for leading and managing global trade compliance activities across import and export operations, ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. and international customs, export control, sanctions, and trade regulations. This position provides strategic and operational guidance to business teams, customs brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders while identifying compliance risks and implementing sustainable processes and controls. The role serves as a subject‑matter expert for trade compliance matters and supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of global trade compliance programs, procedures, audits, training, reporting, and systems.

YOUR TASKS

• Lead day-to-day global trade compliance activities supporting U.S. and international import and export operations.
• Provide guidance on U.S. Customs, BIS, OFAC, and other applicable government and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, work instructions, and internal controls.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on business operations and clients.
• Identify compliance risks, develop corrective and preventive actions, and monitor remediation through completion.
• Oversee import compliance activities, including HTS classification, country of origin, customs valuation, duty rates, and entry requirements.
• Review customs entries and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with customs brokers to resolve entry discrepancies, customs inquiries, and operational issues.
• Support CBP inquiries, CTPAT, CF-28s, CF-29s, audits, protests, prior disclosures, and other customs matters.
• Oversee export compliance activities, including ECCN/USML classification, license determinations, export documentation, and screening requirements.
• Provide guidance on EAR requirements, license exceptions, export authorizations, sanctions, embargoes, restricted‑party screening, and recordkeeping.
• Establish and maintain processes for HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, and country‑of‑origin determinations.
• Review and validate product classifications and country‑of‑origin determinations and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and clients to obtain technical, sourcing, and product information required for accurate trade determinations.
• Ensure trade compliance master data is accurate and properly maintained within Oracle, SAP, SAP GTS, and other applicable systems.
• Develop and conduct trade compliance audits, assessments, and transactional reviews to identify errors, gaps, and compliance risks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), CCS, CES, CUSECO, or comparable trade compliance certification.
• Experience with Foreign-Trade Zones (FTZ), duty drawback, tariff mitigation, or other duty optimization programs.
• Experience supporting multinational, third‑party logistics, or service‑provider environments.
• Experience developing and implementing trade compliance programs.
• Experience supporting customs and export control audits, investigations, and government inquiries.
