Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Senior Traction Power Engineer to join the North American Infrastructure group in Seattle, WA. The role demands 15–25 years of experience in traction power design for substations, switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, and controls. Lead a team and deliver comprehensive design packages with strong communication skills.

The candidate should have a degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S. or M.S.), a PE license or EIT advantageous, and familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70 and local codes.

Qualifications

• 15 to 25 years of experience with dc traction power systems design.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 and NEC/local codes.
• PE license or EIT is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of junior electrical engineers to develop traction power design packages.
• Design traction power substations, feeder and equipment sizing, site plans, duct bank and conduit layouts, grounding systems, auxiliary power supply systems and control circuits.
• Coordinate with other engineers for systems integration and design.
• Perform load flow simulations and prepare reports.
• Develop documents including specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
• Review project submittals and RFIs from contractors.
• Provide installation, testing and commissioning support to clients.
• Manage traction power projects.
