Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Senior Toxicology Study Director (Senior Research Scientist) in Reno, Nevada. This independent role oversees GLP and non-GLP in vivo toxicology studies across multiple species, directing study design, execution, and reporting while engaging clients throughout the lifecycle of preclinical safety programs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience in toxicology, safety assessment, or drug development.
• Experience as a Study Director within CRO, pharma, or regulated research environments.
• Experience leading GLP and non-GLP in vivo toxicology studies.
• Experience across multiple animal species and study designs.
• Direct client interaction and scientific communication proven.
• Strong scientific writing for protocols, reports, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead studies from proposal through final report as Study Director or PI/Individual Scientist.
• Oversee protocol development, execution, data interpretation, reporting, and sponsor communications.
• Ensure GLP compliance, SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as primary scientific and client contact for assigned studies.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and consultation to internal teams and clients.
• Support business development through proposals, client relationships, and growth opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement and stay abreast of scientific developments.
• Study Director: design/manage study plans, coordinate execution, approve reports, communicate progress.
