Toxic tort is one of the few practice areas where the best part of the week is arguing with a scientist.
At of counsel level, for $190,000 to $250,000 plus a discretionary bonus, you'd be doing a lot of that. The plaintiffs bring epidemiologists, toxicologists, pathologists and now and then an immunologist, each with a causation theory, and your job is to find the defense experts who can pull it apart and then cross examine the other side's in deposition. You'd run your own caseload from start to finish with a team under you, report to the clients yourself, and act as local, regional or national counsel depending on the client and how far a case reaches. Some files arrive with a carrier attached, so there's coverage reporting to do as well.
They're looking for eight years or more, toxic tort ideally, and the California Bar. Trial and cross examination time helps and won't rule you out if you're light on it. Hybrid or fully remote is your choice, with San Francisco as the office, and there's a 401k match and the usual medical, dental and vision.
