Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is hiring a Senior Tooling Engineer to lead tooling design, preparation, and verification for advanced aircraft production. You will develop production systems, apply Lean methods, deploy new tooling options, and ensure tooling availability with calibration programs.

Travel internationally may be required; you will collaborate with Swedish tooling resources to deliver tooling solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years relevant tooling experience or Aerostructures experience is preferred
• Driven, innovative and takes initiative
• Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to travel internationally
• Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of production systems and working methods, influencing the design work to achieve low production costs without compromising function, safety and quality.
• Develop new technical solutions and contribute to the development of efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.
• Deploy advanced tooling options where they can be effectively leveraged.
• Ensure the accurate and timely tooling resources are available for the operation, supported by processes to ensure tooling maintenance and calibration.
• Drive continuous improvement for tooling resources and processes.
• Work collaboratively with Swedish tooling resources to deliver tooling solutions
