Job summary

Prometheus Energetics is seeking a Senior Manager / Principal Tooling Engineer to lead tooling design and manufacturing equipment as the business scales to high-rate production. You will own the tooling strategy, CAD architecture, vendor oversight, and tool qualification to meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements.

You will partner with Engineering, Operations, Safety, and external shops to drive lifecycle management, risk assessment, and continuous improvement, ensuring DoD and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years progressive tooling design/manufacturing engineering in aerospace/defense environment.
• Proven mastery of 3D CAD packages (Creo/NX/SolidWorks) and PDM/PLM like Windchill.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enterprise tooling strategy and CAD design standards.
• Lead modeling, detailing, and structural analysis of complex tooling and fixtures.
• Serve as technical authority for tooling; perform GD&T and fit-checks to guarantee tool integrity.
• Manage lifecycle tooling programs from concept to shop-floor deployment.
• Coordinate with external tool shops, review proposals, and drive tool buy-offs.
• Ensure tooling meets safety, regulatory, and customer requirements (explosive safety).
• Establish maintenance, calibration, and recertification processes for tooling assets.
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and PFMEA at tool level.
