Job summary

SAAB is seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle support of tooling for aerospace and defense systems in a regulated, safety-critical environment. You will translate requirements into robust tooling for machining, composites, assembly, and test, collaborating with design, operations, quality, and suppliers.

You will develop 3D models and drawings, perform tolerance and structural analyses, drive root-cause investigations, and lead continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Requires degree in mechanical engineering and experience in tooling for aerospace/defense.
• Experience working in regulated, safety-critical environments.
• Strong collaboration with design, operations, quality and suppliers.

SAAB is seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle support of complex tooling for advanced defense and aerospace systems within our Engineering & Design organization. In this role, you will translate product and manufacturing requirements into robust, safe, and maintainable tooling solutions for machining, composite fabrication, assembly, and test. You will collaborate closely with design engineering, operations, quality, and suppliers in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment. Responsibilities include developing 3D models and drawings, performing tolerance and structural analyses, driving root-cause investigations, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability, throughput, and ergonomics. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technology roadmaps in automation and smart tooling, and ensure compliance with aerospace standards and Saab processes.
