Job summary

PerkinElmer seeks a Senior Technician to support cigarette smoke generation and physical testing within an ISO 17025 accredited lab. You will handle sample prep, data review, and collaborative tasks across smoke, prep, and physical testing workflows at a client site.

The role requires experience with smoking machines, sample handling, and compliance with quality systems. Strong mentoring and safety training are expected in a dynamic lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years laboratory/manufacturing experience or an Associate degree with 1+ year experience.
• Experience operating smoking machines and aerosol collection systems preferred.
• Familiar with ISO 17025, GLP, or GMP environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate, and maintain smoking machines and collection equipment for cigarette smoke generation.
• Assemble impinger systems and collection apparatus for various smoke constituents.
• Prepare samples for analytical testing and maintain chain-of-custody records.
• Perform physical characterization testing (moisture, pH, density, particle size, dimensional checks).
• Measure product dimensions and tobacco weight characteristics.
• Prepare reagents and consumables for downstream analytical workflows.
• Maintain and calibrate specialized testing instrumentation and lab equipment.
• Verify data and lab records for accuracy and ISO 17025 compliance.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, investigate deviations, and support method validation.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and maintain training/compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
