First American seeks an experienced title underwriting professional to join our Virginia team. You will provide underwriting support and guidance for real estate title insurance commitments and settlement services, applying standards and regulations with accuracy and discretion.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10 years of title underwriting experience, a law degree, and strong negotiation and communication skills. Hybrid work options are available within driving distance of Virginia.

Qualifications

• Requires a Law Degree and admission to practice in the state of employment.
• 8–10 years of title underwriting experience.
• Virginia title underwriting experience.
• Must be familiar with real estate law.
• Excellent understanding of real estate title and settlement process.
• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to real estate title insurance and settlement services.

Responsibilities

• Provides underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers related to title insurance commitments and policies.
• Uses underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority to underwrite title insurance.
• Provides guidance to personnel in real estate settlement services.
• Issues underwriting standards and guidelines per established processes.
• Communicates underwriting and settlement information to the team.
• Other duties as assigned.
