Job summary

Rocket Close is a national title insurer seeking a skilled Title Examiner to work remotely from Texas. Stay current with Texas title statutes, review abstracts, and resolve vesting issues in collaboration with sellers, attorneys, underwriting counsel, and other title agencies.

You will guide the team on curative solutions, ensure insurability of title, and communicate requirements clearly to Closing Specialists and Coordinators, with timely status updates to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Title license (required).
• Residence in Texas (required).
• 5+ years title examination and curative experience.
• Experience leading a team in a changing environment.
• Understanding of title specialist role in a team-focused industry.
• Knowledge of Qualia, Slack, and Microsoft desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of Texas title statutes and requirements.
• Review abstracts and identify actionable title issues.
• Collaborate with sellers, attorneys, underwriting counsel, and title agencies to clear defects.
• Prepare title clearance affidavits (Continuous Marriage Affidavits, LLC/Corp/Trust Affidavits, Free and Clear Affidavits, Hold Harmless Agreements).
• Order payoffs for liens and judgments, including mortgages.
• Guide the team on curative solutions and insurability of title.
• Communicate requirements clearly to Closing Specialists and Coordinators; provide status updates and escalate as needed.
• Provide timely status updates and escalate issues as needed.
• Partner with Manager to recruit, develop and retain a high-performing team.

Location and Licensing Requirements

This is a work-from-home position; however, you must reside and work in the state of Texas, as required by Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) guidelines and licensing requirements.

About the role

• Maintain a firm understanding of Texas title statutes and keep current on state and federal requirements
• Review abstracts and identify title issues that need additional information or resolution
• Work with sellers, attorneys, underwriting counsel, and other title agencies to obtain the documentation needed to clear vesting issues, judgments, and other title defects
• Prepare title clearance affidavits, such as Continuous Marriage Affidavits, LLC, Corporation and Trust Affidavits, Free and Clear Affidavits, and Hold Harmless Agreements
• Order payoffs for liens and judgments, including mortgages
• Guide the team on curative solutions and determine the insurability of title
• Communicate title requirements clearly to Closing Specialists and Closing Coordinators, and work with them toward resolutionProvide timely status updates to internal and external parties, and issue an internal notification when files are curative complete
• Serve as the first level of escalation for customer and vendor issues for Title, maintaining calm and professionalism regardless of the title defect or situation
• Partner with your Manager to recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team focused on organizational goals

• Qualia, Slack, and Microsoft knowledge is helpful
