Blue Origin is seeking a Thermal Engineer to own the thermal design of phased array antennas for satellite payloads and ground terminals in Reston, VA. You will develop transient thermal models and drive interface and production considerations across RF, silicon, structures, and power systems.

Qualifications include a 5+ year track in aerospace thermal engineering, spaceborne design experience, and proficiency with Thermal Desktop or comparable tools. NASA/ESA/MIL-STD familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in thermal engineering for aerospace, RF systems, or high-density electronics.
• Spaceborne thermal design experience: vacuum, radiation heat transfer, flight hardware qualification.
• Strong grasp of phased array thermal challenges - dense front-end integration, high areal power density.
• Proficiency with thermal modeling tools (Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ANSYS Icepak, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with environmental and qualification standards (NASA, ESA, MIL‑STD or similar).

Responsabilités

• Own thermal architecture for satellite phased array payloads and ground terminal arrays.
• Build and run transient thermal models from die junction to radiators.
• Define interface design for mounting, preload, materials, bonds, heat pipes, spreaders.
• Set duty-cycle and operational limits with teams; ensure thermal constraints drive capacity.
• Run architecture trades and quantify impact on degrees, kg, and cost per unit.
• Define test plans and correlate models to test results.
• Design for high-rate production and repeatable manufacturing.
• Mentor engineers and establish thermal engineering practices on the program.
