Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to lead thermal design and analysis for satellite payloads and integrated in-space constellation solutions. This role ensures reliable performance of high-power payloads in LEO, requiring deep expertise in thermal management of space-qualified hardware, RF/optical components, and radar systems.

The position is part of the Blue National Security business unit within the Advanced Systems organization and involves collaboration with payload,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in thermal engineering for aerospace systems and/or high-power electronics.
• Experience with spaceborne thermal design in vacuum, radiation heat transfer, and flight hardware qualification.
• Proficient with Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ANSYS Icepak or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal design & analysis for satellite-based, high-power payloads and power electronics.
• Develop detailed thermal models covering conduction, radiation, and convection as needed.
• Define thermal interfaces across payload subsystems and manage radiators, heat pipes, and cold plates.
• Perform transient and steady-state analyses for mission profiles and environmental conditions.
• Collaborate with payload, mechanical, power, and systems engineering teams.
